About our private “Cave”:

It’s our refuge when we are on the island.

Diving and snorkeling are always an adventure in Zanzibar. An experience and a wonder. It’s not much different with our cozy little “Cave”. Anyone who decides to stay with us is also embarking on a little adventure with us, with Zanzibar.

Because we are different! 😉

Breakfast is usually served at 7:30 a.m., which means that it can be 7:15 a.m. or a bit later, depending on Fadhila, our cook. She also decides what she serves… Omelets, scrambled eggs, pancakes, chapati… every breakfast is a surprise. This is accompanied by ginger tea or coffee from fresh out of the cave, along with fresh juice and water.

Rehema, our “pearl,” should then be ready at 8:30 a.m. with a broom and mop to restore the cave to its original condition, but here, too, flexible expectations are definitely not out of place… 😉

As far as lunch and dinner are concerned, you are completely OUT with us, in the truest sense of the word. Because we want to encourage you to explore the diverse local cuisine on the beach instead of ordering a pork knuckle from us.

As I said, just as Zanzibar inspires with its little wonders, our cave, with its good spirits, has its own dynamics and, we hope, charm for you as our guests.

We ourselves enjoy this – how shall I put it… flexible serenity of the locals, even if it can sometimes drive you nuts when organizing appointments and projects. But that’s Africa, that’s Zanzibar with all its magic.

Just enjoy it!

Lenz, Birgit, and the entire Bluewavediving-Zanzibar team wish you lots of fun in our cozy little cave and a good rest.

The Start

Originally Daniel Mutile Munga and Idi Abdhala Stambulli planned ONLY to set up their own dive center with some helpers. But in November 2018 Lenz Leberkern crossed their path during a diving holiday on Zanzibar.

After a trip to the north of the island to the marine sanctuary around the island of Mnemba it was clear to the German that this area had a completely different potential.

But the spot around the island was already quite crowded, even though they started to set up their plans and shop together. This area is a phantastic opportunity to include people and culture to show the guests the heritage of the island. Covid almost ruined everything but with hard work the shop survived somehow. The chance to build their own dive center after their own plans got them to leave this area and move to “The Rock” where the new dive center is built at the moment. During this period, we are diving – of course!
